The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives diventa verde con l'energia solare

Lo Standard, Huruvalhi Maldive, un resort di lusso situato sull'isola di Huruvalhi nell'atollo di Raa, ha annunciato l'installazione di pannelli solari come parte del suo impegno per la sostenibilità e le pratiche eco-compatibili. Il resort utilizza l’energia solare come principale fonte di elettricità dal novembre 2023, con piani in atto per rendere l’isola completamente alimentata ad energia solare.

“Replacing carbon-intensive products with climate-friendly alternatives is an important step in winning the climate battle. Currently, our new solar system has a capacity of 750 kWp (kilowatt-peak), which enables us to save about 230,000 liters of fuel per year. This translates to a reduction of 588.8 tons of CO2 emissions annually. We are testing the system and plan to substantially expand its capacity in the coming years,” said Boripat Louichareon, Managing Director of Standard Asia.

I pannelli solari non sono l'unica iniziativa green che il resort ha attuato. Lo Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives ha anche vietato la plastica monouso, sostituito l'acqua in bottiglia con bottiglie di vetro riempite in loco, passato a lampadine LED a basso wattaggio e servizi ecologici nelle ville e composta i suoi rifiuti organici su un'isola vicina per concimare i suoi frutteti e orti.

The resort also encourages its guests and staff to use bicycles as their preferred mode of transportation alongside electric-powered buggies. At the Dive Center, holidaymakers can learn about the property’s Coral Conservation Initiative and visit the coral nursery, where a team of dive specialists restore the reef damaged by human activity and climate change to its healthy self by building a coral garden.

“Since the resort’s opening in 2019, we have been striving to run the island on clean energy instead of fossil fuels. Our solar project is an important step towards making The Standard Huruvalhi a carbon-neutral resort that preserves this stunning island that we call home,” added Louichareon.
