What is Coral?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coral is a marine organism belonging to the class Anthozoa. Despite appearing rock-like, corals are actually colonies of tiny animals called polyps. These polyps have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae, microscopic algae that live within their tissues. The algae provide the coral with nutrients through photosynthesis, while the coral offers the algae a protected environment and the compounds needed for photosynthesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
